Key Retirement strengthens wider advice focus with appointment of Technical Director

01 June 2015

Leading over-55s financial specialist Key Retirement has appointed one of its founding directors, Dean Mirfin, to the newly-created role of technical director to provide technical oversight across its core business areas of equity release, retirement income, secured lending and Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney.

Key has created the role to ensure it strengthens its technical expertise in response to the growing wider reaching options and flexibility delivered by pension freedoms. The new freedoms make the need for interplay of wider financial solutions essential.

Dean Mirfin, who has been with the business from origination in 1998 when it employed 12 staff, has played a major role in driving expansion at the group which now employs more than 300 and has built considerable expertise and experience across a wide range of financial services issues and products.

Colin Taylor, CEO at KR Group, said: "With over 25 years' experience as a mortgage, equity release, and retirement expert, Dean's new role is central to the next stage in the growth story at Key where technical knowledge and wider reaching advice will play a major role."

Dean Mirfin, technical director at Key (www.keyadvice.co.uk), said:  "Pension freedoms have created massive opportunities for retirement savers but people need guiding through the improved options availableI, needing a wider perspective which must also include the home as well as effective estate planning. Key is ideally placed to help savers understand their options and to ensure they maximise retirement income."

In February, Key Retirement launched its Retirement Options service that delivers a free personalised Retirement Options Report for all customers outlining all their options while highlighting the risks and relevance to them.

It delivers a much greater understanding of the range of relevant options available, enhancing consumer understanding and leading onto regulated advice where needed.
